Learning Journeys and the EYFS

Each child will have their own electronic development record or ’Learning Journey’, which is comprised of observations, photographs, art work and a record of their development and achievements. You can access your child’s Learning Journey using the link below. We encourage parents to review entries and to also upload photographs and achievements which have taken place outside the nursery to compliment your child’s development record.

My learning Book

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework which ensures your child receives the best possible start in life and supports their full potential.

The aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five “Every Child Matters” outcomes which are:

• Staying Safe
• Being Healthy
• Enjoying and Achieving
• Making a Positive Contribution
• Achieving Economic Well Being

The Early Learning goals are:

Prime areas:-
• Personal, Social, Emotional Development
• Physical Development;
• Communication, Language
Specific areas:-
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Understanding the World
• Expressive Arts and Design

None of these areas of Learning and Development will be delivered in isolation from the others. They are equally important and depend on each other to support a rounded approach to child development. All the areas will be delivered through individual planning, purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities. We hope you will enjoy being part of this process.
